Spanish letter: consolation regarding a child's illness.

Queridos padres:

Paco y Carmen

Dear parents

We hope this letter will prove helpful and allows you to see the distant horizon, which, at the present time, seems to have no end. We have a beautiful child who was born with the same problem as your son, and, naturally, we should have liked to have had somebody near who could have informed and reassured us during the first moments when suddenly you find yourself in this situation.

We know how the excitement and joy that you experienced while awaiting the arrival of your child are transformed, from the first moment, into a feeling of pain and suffering as you imagine what life is going to be like in the future. You must have imagined a multitude of scenes on a hard and tortuous road that from that moment will await your son and we too also felt these things.

For this reason we wish to urge you, from our own experience, not to be sad and not to let these happy moments escape because as you watch him grow you will become aware that what has happened has not been a misfortune but a problem that holds a solution. With your help and care and by watching over him as he grows you will help him to be and feel like a child just like any other.

We wish you all the best for your son.

Warm regards

Paco and Carmen
