Cómo quedar en inglés (conversación 2).Hablar con un viejo amigo y quedar por teléfono.Es interesante notar aquí el uso en inglés de presente perfecto y pasado simple para preguntar y hablar de las cosas que han pasado últimamente en las vidas de María y David. Fíjate también en las frases típicas que se emplean para quedar: "where shall we meet?"; "what about..." etc. (A minute later.) (Un minuto más tarde.) David - ( Picks up phone ) Hello? - ( Coge el teléfono ) Diga. ... María - David? Hello, it's María. - ¿David? Hola, soy María. ... David - Hello, María. I haven't heard from you for ages! What've you been up to? - Hola, María. ¡Hace tiempo que no sé nada de ti! ¿Qué hay de tu vida? ... María - Well, I've been abroad. - Bueno, he estado en el extranjero. ... David - Really? Where've you been? - ¿De veras? ¿Dónde has estado? ... María - I've just got back from South America. - Acabo de volver de América del Sur. ... David - South America? That sounds great! You lucky thing! What were you doing there? - ¿América del Sur? ¡Suena de maravilla! ¡Qué suerte! ¿Qué hacías allí? ... María - Well, I was working in a language school in Caracas. I was teaching Spanish to foreigners part time and travelling and sightseeing and stuff when I had time off. - Bueno, impartía clases de español para extranjeros a tiempo parcial y viajaba y veía los monumentos en mi tiempo libre. ... David - Sounds interesting! How long were you there for? - ¡Qué bien! ¿Durante cuánto tiempo estuviste allí? ... María - About nine months. I came back last weekend. What about you? What've you been up to? - Unos nueve meses. Volví el fin de semana pasado. ¿Y tú qué? ¿Qué has estado haciendo? ... David - Oh, nothing much, same as usual; working. I've been given a promotion. - Pues, poquita cosa, lo de siempre; trabajando. Me han ascendido. ... María - Mmm! You always were a swot! Listen, David. Would you like to come out for a drink? I'll show you the photos of Caracas! - ¡Mmm! ¡Siempre eras un empollón! Escucha, David. ¿Te apetece salir a tomar una copa? ¡Te enseñaré las fotos de Caracas! ... David - Yes, I'd love to! When shall we meet? - Sí, ¡con mucho gusto! ¿A qué hora quedamos? ... María - What about Friday evening, say, half past six at the Three Bells pub? - ¿Qué te parece el viernes por la tarde, digamos, a las seis y media en el pub Las Tres Campanas? ... David - Sounds good to me! - ¡Me parece muy bien! ... María - Right, OK, then. I'll look forward to it! - Bien, de acuerdo. ¡Tengo ganas de verte! ... David - Yeah, me too. So that's Friday, half past six at the Three Bells pub. - Sí, y yo. Así que, el viernes, a las seis y media en el pub Las Tres Campanas. ... María - Yes. - Sí. ... David - I'll see you then, then.
