Ejercicio - uso de should y ought to para el pasado.

Eventos en el pasado que no ocurrieron.

Las frases más abajo hablan de los eventos en el pasado que no pasaron. Hay que comentar sobre cada frase diciendo que debería haber pasado: it should have happened o it ought to have happened (los dos verbos modales son posibles en todas las respuestas).

Ejemplo:
Steve didn't finish the report.

Respuesta:
Steve should have finished     the report.
o,
Steve ought to have finished     the report.

 

1) John didn't do his homework.

John his homework.

2) She didn't telephone her mother yesterday.

She her mother yesterday.

3) They weren't at home by eleven o'clock.

They at home by eleven o'clock.

4) The bus didn't stop.

The bus .

5) He couldn't find the time to do the shopping.

He the time to do the shopping.

6) The door wouldn't open.

The door .

7) Johnny didn't eat his vegetables.

Johnny his vegetables.

8) The phone didn't ring.

The phone .

9) They didn't win the match.

They the match.

10) The teacher refused to help him.

The teacher him.
