Tratamientos en inglés especiales.

Cómo dirigirse a la nobleza y otras personas importantes por carta.

No todos los días se escribe a un rey o un emperador pero en el caso de que te toque, aquí tienes términos correctos que hay que emplear en la carta. Hay tres apartados para cada persona:

a) Se escribe en el sobre.

b) El encabezamiento.

c) La despedida

La Reina de Inglaterra: a) Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. b) Madam o May it please your Majesty. c) I have the honour to remain your Majesty's most faithful servant.

Los príncipes reales: a) His Royal Highness (+ título). b) Sir. c) I have the honour to remain, Sir, Your Royal Highness's most dutiful servant.

Las princesas reales: a) Her Royal Highness (+ título). b) Madam. c) I have the honour to remain, Madam, Your Royal Highness's most dutiful servant.

(Si el príncipe o la princesa no es 'real', se omiten las palabras 'Royal' y 'Most'.)

Un duque: a) His Grace the Duke of ...... b) My Lord Duke. c) I remain, my Lord Duke, Your Grace's most obedient servant.

Una duquesa: a) Her Grace the Duchess of ...... b) Madam. c) I remain, Madam, your Grace's most obedient servant.

Un marqués: a) The Most Honourable, the Marquess of ....... b) My Lord Marquess. c) I remain, my Lord Marquess, your Lordship's most obedient servant.

Una marquesa: a) The Most Honourable, The Marchioness of ...... b) Madam c) I remain, Madam, your Ladyship's most obedient servant.

Un conde: a) The Right Honourable the Earl of ...... b) My Lord. c) I remain, My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient servant.

Una condesa: a) The Right Honourable the Countess of ....... b) Madam. c) I remain, Madam, Your Ladyship's most obedient servant.

Un vizconde: a) The Right Honourable the Lord Viscount (+ nombre). b) My Lord. c) I remain, My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient servant.

Una vizcondesa: a) The Right Honourable the Lady Viscountess (+ nombre) b) Madam c) I remain, Madam, your Ladyship's most obedient servant.

Un barón: a) The Right Honourable Lord (+ nombre). b) My Lord. c) I remain, My Lord, Your Lordship's most obedient servant.

Una baronesa: a) The Right Honourable Lady (+ nombre). b) Madam c) I remain, Madam, your Ladyship's most obedient servant

Un baronet: a) Sir (nombre completo), Bt. b) Sir. c) Yours sincerely

La esposa de un baronet: a) Lady (apellido sólo o nombre completo si nació con el título). b) Madam. c) Yours sincerely

Arzobispo: a) His Grace the Lord Archbishop of ..... b) My Lord Archbishop. b) I remain, my Lord Archbishop, your Grace's most obedient servant.

Un obispo: The Right Reverend the Lord Bishop of.... b) My Lord Bishop. c) I remain, My Lord Bishop, your Lordship's most obedient servant.

Un deán: The Very Reverend the Dean of.... b) Very Reverend Sir. c) I remain, Reverend Sir, your most obedient servant.

Un arcediano: a) The Venerable the Archdeacon.... b) Reverend Sir. c) I remain, Reverend Sir, your most obedient servant.

Un embajador: a) His excellency HBM's Ambassador and Plenipotentiary to the Court of..... b) Según el rango c) según el rango (HBM = Her Britannic Majesty).

La esposa de un embajador: a), b) y c) según el rango.

Gobernador General: a) His Excellency (o His Grace si es un duque) ......, Governor General of .... c) Según el rango.

Gobernador de una colonia: a) His Excellency ...., Governor of .... .b) y c) según el rango

Cónsul Británico: a) Su nombre Esq., HBM's Agent and Consul (o Vice Consul, o Consul General, según.) No existe un trato especial para b) o c).

Primer ministro: Según el rango

Consejero del consejo privado: a) To the Right Hon. ..... b) y c) según el rango

Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores: a) Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the .... Department. b) y c) según el rango.

Alcalde (de una capital ej. Madrid o Barcelona, España.): To the Right Hon. the Lord Mayor of ..... b) My Lord. c) Your Lordship's obedient servant.

Alcalde (de una ciudad) a) The Right Worshipful the Mayor of ... b) Sir. c) I remain, Sir, your obedient servant.

Alcalde (de un pueblo) a) The Worshipful the Mayor of .... b) Sir. c) I remain, Sir, your obedient servant.

Juez (Inglaterra e Irlanda del Norte): a) The Hon. Sir .... (si tiene el t´tulo de Sir.) o The Hon. Mr Justice ... .b) Sir. c) I have the honour to be, Sir, your most obedient servant.

Juez local: a) To His Honour, Judge .....b) Sir. c) I have the honour to be, Sir, your most obedient servant.

Caballero (alguien que tiene el título de Sir: a) Sir .... b) Sir. c) Yours sincerely
