La presentación en inglés 4 - frases útiles.

Las siguientes frases (ver más abajo) son esenciales para presentar tus ideas de una manera clara y profesional. Podemos llamarlas frases "signpost" ("señales" en inglés) por que señalan a los asistentes dónde vas en momentos específicos durante la presentación. Emplear las frases "signpost" es también útil porque:

a) te ayudan a ti el ponente porque lo encontrarás más fácil a organizar tus pensamientos en inglés.

b) ayudan a los que te escuchan, posiblemente tampoco no nativos de la lengua inglesa, facilitándoles el seguimiento de la presentación en inglés.

Es aconsejable memorizar algunas de estas frases útiles en inglés antes de la presentación y además, apuntarlas en tus tarjetas de apuntes.

 

Introducción, bienvenida y cuando se puede hacer preguntas.

Good morning, ladies and gentleman. My name's John Jones. I'm head of sales at Acme Services. ...

I would like to thank you for inviting me here today to talk about... ...

I would like to thank you all for attending this presentation. I plan to be brief. ...

I shall only take about fifteen minutes of your time. ...

If you have any questions, I'd be very happy to answer them at the end. ...

Feel free to interrupt me if you have any questions during my presentation. ... (No es recomendable si tu nivel de inglés no es alto.)

 

Explicar el propósito de tu presentación.

I'd like to give you a brief presentation about... ...

The subject of my talk is... ...

I'm going to talk about... ...

My talk is concerned with... ...

The purpose of my talk is to... ...

 

Comunicar la estructura de la presentación.

Ensayar la presentación en inglés.

Finalmente, recuerda de ensayar tu presentación preferiblemente delante de otros compañeros que pueden ofrecerte consejos y sugerir mejoras. Ensayar no es solamente una buena manera de practicar tu destreza en hablar inglés, también puede ser necesario terminar tu charla dentro de un tiempo estipulado, por ejemplo, veinte minutos. Pasar el tiempo límite acordado puede arruinar lo que por lo demás ha sido una presentación perfecta. Solamente en ensayo completo te ayudará a cronometrar tu presentación con precisión.
